Dina Montesu: Contemporary Italian Painter

Born in Orune—where she has lived for most of her life—Dina Montesu studied at the Nuoro Art Institute and later at the Mario Sironi Academy of Fine Arts in Sassari. Her academic background is complemented by various internships and training courses in the arts, which helped shape a creative vision defined by sensitivity and an aesthetic quest.

For five years, she worked in her hometown at an art workshop for young people with special needs—an experience that deepened her social and humanitarian commitment. She later taught at art and science high schools before dedicating herself fully to secondary education. She currently lives and works with her family in the city of Oristano, where she continues to pursue her passion for painting and writing, while also organizing art and poetry events.

Her artistic output is accompanied by significant publishing activity. She has produced works such as the catalog for the exhibition Un segno contro la violenza (A Sign Against Violence), in which she paired visual artworks with her own poetry; the Sardinian-language poetry collection Poetas Cantadores in limba; and the critical introduction to the volume Poesias e pinturas meas by the late Mauro Puddori.

Dina Montesu’s work has been featured in both group and solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad, and is documented in art catalogs and publications alongside texts by prominent critics and cultural figures. These include the prestigious Catalogo dell’Arte Moderna Italiana (editions 57 and 58, Giorgio Mondadori).

She is currently working on several collections of her own poetry—in both Sardinian and Italian—solidifying an artistic profile that integrates painting, the written word, and cultural engagement. Her career reflects an enduring commitment to fostering a dialogue between art and society, and between the personal and the universal.
