“…the particular world and obsessions of the artist Santiago Sánchez allow us to contemplate risky, energetic pieces, furious shapes, blurry looks about to explode. The drama accentuated with the gestures of the noise suspended in that moment of deep anguish and pain. Santiago navigates between emotions and puts them in front of us in scenarios of immense suffering that encourage us to reflect. The use of the image not only as a creative process, but as a tool to avoid losing oneself from reality in this psychological abyss. It leads to a consciousness that builds its own integrity and human sensitivity, it reveals its sense of total freedom from what could normally be defined as weakness but it turns it into strength, with a unfolding of emotions expressed in movements that culminate in brutal strokes spreading “beauty acrylics.” -

Plastic artist.
Born in Cuernavaca, Morelos, 2002. Santiago began his interest in the arts as a child, partly driven by his interest in sensitive subjects, and where the first step in his drawing would be in the ink of comic strips, this encounter would take him to practice drawing, the exercise of which was of utmost importance for an infant Santiago, later with influences in cinema, television, music and comics. Influences that were expressive, passionate, transgressive and novel.
This passion for drawing began to shape him from an early age, leading him to pursue a degree at the Botticelli Institute for Arts and Restoration. Young and emerging artist, he has 5 exhibitions,1 national project and 1 individual exhibition.
Starting with the annual Botticelli 2021 competition at the El otro mono Gallery Cuernavaca, C4ATRO collective exhibition at the Antigua cultural center, Cuernavaca, individual exhibition “before my anguish” at the Xipatlani Gallery Cuernavaca, the house of cultures in Puebla in “Divergent Encounters” ”, collective exhibition “September 15” at the Antigua cultural center, Cuernavaca, Exhibition “NUNI Project” at the regional museum in Puebla.
It is in this artistic journey that he finds a strange relationship in disruptive feelings, making him mark a journey of searching to capture it. Hence his affinity with his main inspirations which are based on the journey of the mind during the avant-garde of the 20th century, expressionism and its abstract aspects to be exact. as he finds in the expressions of Francis Bacon and on the other hand in Jean-Michael Basquiat an extensive fascination with these movements.
His main means consist of experimentation in the plastic and visual arts, especially painting and photography where it pushes the limits of his expressiveness. He is currently pursuing a degree in Plastic Arts. He is the main founder of the C4TRO Collective, integrating young artists and friends. Involved in several projects that he enthusiastically proposes to explore as the opportunities that this same need to express guide him.
