Thierry Deliveyne: Cartographer of the Invisible

Thierry Deliveyne is one of those explorers who lead us into uncharted territories. His inspiration flows through pictorial landscapes that invite us to inhabit them, creating poetic moments that seem to float weightlessly. In this imaginary universe, the most striking aspect is the intensity of the concrete emotions it awakens: the viewer finds themselves suspended in a reverie, in an experience that borders on the magical.

Born in 1949 in the Paris region, Deliveyne came to painting relatively late, in the 1990s. After studying architecture at the ENSBA in Paris, he dedicated himself to photography and ephemeral set design for shows and exhibitions. When he sought to give form to his dreamlike visions in two dimensions, painting revealed itself as the ideal medium. Without formal training in the discipline, he developed a unique and personal technique.

His current work unfolds along three lines of investigation:

Painting on canvas or wood: intensely colorful compositions where intuitive gesture forms the foundation of the work. With a palette knife, he creates textural reliefs that structure the surface, upon which color lends spirit and transformation.

Works based on capillarity: experiments that explore physical phenomena to generate unexpected textures and effects.

Research in black and white: ink works that, through synthesis, seek to convey sensations and inner states.

Thierry Deliveyne's universe is a space of transition between the tangible and the imaginary, where the pictorial matter becomes a vehicle for emotions and the artwork a territory for contemplation.
